IC Anomaly Guide
Maintained by Frisk (@determination) and Toriel (@snailfan98)
Basic information
Anomalies are the roaming creatures that can be found throughout the town we find ourselves in now. Some people call them "monsters," but there are those among us resident trapped here who are also called that, so it is not the best term to use. The @admin is the one who first used the term "anomalies." We're still trying to learn more about what they truly are and what can be done about them.
According to @admin, there are roughly 50 of them in Norfinbury at the time of this writing. We do not yet know what exactly they are, or where they come from. They all appear differently, and how they look may be changing.
Encountering Anomalies
Anomalies may be found at any time while travelling or looking around. At this time, anomalies found will likely attack and attempt to chase anyone they come across. Being caught by an anomaly will result in death.
All attempts to communicate or fight them have failed so far. In one case, an anomaly was burned, and reverted to a shadowy form that continued to chase those it had encountered. If you run into an anomaly, you must flee until we know more. You will likely need to find shelter, and barricade both doors and windows to keep them out until lockdown.
It is said that the @admin's Beacon application attracts them, so use it with caution. Especially large groups have also attracted swarms of them.
The development of Anomalies
According to those who've been trapped here longest, when anomalies first appeared in Norfinbury, they appeared as black shadows who merely caused illness when they came into contact with residents. Now, being close to them is enough to cause several symptoms including dizziness, nausea, and nosebleeds.
Their appearance has also changed. They began to take on different forms that resembled beings and creatures from resident's homes. Despite this, these anomalies did not react any differently or respond to words or questions.
Recently, the @admin attempted to adjust these anomalies, and as a result anomalies took a warped form of people we, the residents, knew from our homes. They chased us relentlessly and would continue to follow us day after day. However, these anomalies did respond to basic questions and instructions, such as to stop or to leave temporarily. In the end, @admin was required to erase a memory to stop this near-constant pursuit.
We do not yet know what form anomalies will take in the future. We will update this guide as we learn more.
Anomalies and @Admin
At this time, the @admin does seem to be able to influence the anomalies. She has talked about "parameters" that are being adjusted. She has not told us what these parameters are, or how she is able to influence them. However, it is worth noting that she does not or cannot use that influence to stop them from chasing us entirely, or to intervene when they are encountered.
When Frisk asked, she did agree to give information that would be helpful, should she discover it. At this time it does not appear there has been any information to that effect.
What can be done
Several pieces of evidence have indicated that anomalies may be searching for something. When they have caught residents, in some cases those nearby have reported them communicating with vague messages such as "I want it," "I am here," "where is it," and "give it here." If we can find out what it is they're looking for, we may be able to resolve encounters peacefully.
If you find out anything that might help us learn more, no matter how small, please let either of us know. We can be contacted through the addresses below:
